Are Z Grills Electric? How Much Power Do They Use?

Z Grills pellet grills require electricity to operate the controller, auger motor, ignition rod, and fan, but they are not electric grills in the traditional sense. The heat comes from burning wood pellets, not electric heating elements.

PhasePower Draw
Startup (ignition rod active)~250 watts for ~5–7 minutes Silicon nitride igniter: ~170 watts for 5–7 minutes
Normal operation (running)~35-50 watts average
Full session (20-hour cook)~1-1.2 kWh total

Z Grills require a standard 110-120V / 60Hz outlet. No special wiring is needed. Any standard outdoor outlet works.

The low running power draw makes Z Grills suitable for use on a standard outdoor extension cord or on a generator for tailgating and camping.
