A plastic or chemical smell during the first 1–3 uses is completely normal. This is the factory-applied protective coating on the interior metal surfaces burning off — similar to the heavy smoke produced during the burn-in process.
This smell will completely disappear after the burn-in cycle and the first 1–2 cooking sessions. It will not affect the flavor of your food.
