Common Power Outage Scenarios
- Sudden power outage at home
- Circuit breaker trips
- Accidental unplugging or disconnection of power
- Incorrect operation, such as unplugging the grill after cooking
Core Risks
- Burner Residual Fire: The residual heat in the burner could ignite pellets in the feed tube, potentially causing a backfire or fire in the hopper.
- Sudden Temperature Drop: A rapid temperature drop can lead to bacterial growth and spoilage of food.
- Pellet Pile-Up: If power is restored without proper handling, there may be smoldering pellets that could explode.
- Damage from Unplugging: Unplugging the grill can cause smoldering fuel or damage to the equipment.
Emergency Response Procedures
Short-Term Power Outage (≤ 3 minutes)
- Immediately switch the dial to "Shut Down" mode and stop the pellet feed to prevent backfire.
- Check the cause of the power loss and clean out the residual ash in the burner.
- Restore power and restart the grill. Once it is operating normally, resume cooking.
- Quickly reheat food to a safe temperature.
Long-Term Power Outage (> 3 minutes)
- Turn off the grill and remove food to cool or keep warm.
- Thoroughly clean the burner and feed tube, and check for any backfire risks.
- Restore power and check the grill's functionality before resuming.
- Reheat food thoroughly (core temperature ≥75°C or 165°F) before consumption.
Hopper Backfire Emergency
- Never open the hopper lid.
- If the controller is still operational, use the standard shutdown procedure to help the fan dissipate heat in the feed tube.
- If the hopper is smoking but no visible flames are present, set the controller to the highest setting and continue feeding pellets to empty the feed tube. Clean out any charred pellets, inspect the system, and perform necessary repairs before using the grill again.
Prevention Tips
- Install a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) or an outdoor power backup, and use a dedicated circuit breaker to avoid tripping.
- In case of a home-wide power outage, handle the grill immediately by clearing pellets from the hopper and extinguishing any residual fire in the burner.
- Avoid pulling or tugging on the power cord during use, and always follow the proper shutdown procedure when turning off the grill.
