Cook the noodles or use oven-ready noodles

Preheat your oven to 350°F. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the lasagna noodles according to the package directions until just tender. Drain, rinse with cold water, and set aside.

Prepare the meat sauce.

Place the ground beef, Italian sausage, diced onion, and garlic in a tin pan. Cook on the Z Grills at 350°F for 45 minutes. Break the meat apart as it cooks and continue until browned and fully cooked. Carefully drain any excess grease.

Build the sauce.

After 45 Minutes, add the pasta sauce, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Stir everything together and let the sauce simmer uncovered for about 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to come together and the sauce to thicken slightly. Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary.

Mix the cheese filling.

In a medium bowl, combine the ricotta, 1 ½ cups mozzarella, ¼ cup Parmesan, beaten egg, and ¼ teaspoon salt. Mix until the ingredients are evenly incorporated. You want this creamy

Assemble the lasagna.

Spread some meat sauce across the bottom of a 9-by-13-inch tin. Arrange three lasagna noodles over the sauce. Spread on approximately 1 cup of the ricotta mixture, followed by another layer of meat sauce.

Repeat the layer until you reach the top. Finish with the remaining three noodles and spread the rest of the meat sauce evenly over the top. Cover with cheese

Bake covered.

Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.

Add the cheesy topping.

Remove the foil and sprinkle the remaining 2 ½ cups of mozzarella and ¼ cup of Parmesan over the lasagna. Return it to the oven, uncovered, for another 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, golden, and bubbling. For a more browned top, broil for an additional 2–3 minutes, watching carefully.

Let it rest and serve.

Remove the lasagna from the oven and allow it to rest for at least 15 minutes before slicing. This helps the layers set, making it easier to serve neat portions.

Enjoy your homemade meat lasagna!
